Database Administration

As part of our support activities velos-IT provide Database
Administration to a wide variety of Database technologies for
a variety of our customers. Regardless of whether this support is an ongoing Managed Service or a Consultancy activity to address a specific issue, velos-IT have the skills and toolsets necessary to deliver improved performance and increased reliability.

The key to pro-actively managing a database is to identify workloads and baselines and have automated alerting systems in place which send appropriate messages when thresholds set against these baselines are breached.

Through the collective 50 years of experience in the velos-IT DBA team, predominantly Oracle and SQL Server, we have developed a range of monitoring and management tools and scripts which are scheduled to run and raise alerts against these pre defined baselines.

These same tools are also used to provide detailed diagnostics in the event of an issue occurring. The resulting outputs are then analysed by our DBA team and as necessary corrective actions agreed and implemented through a strict change management process.
